How To Use An Air Fryer For Chicken
Air fryers have recently become a popular addition to the modern kitchen, and many home cooks wonder how to use an air fryer for chicken. We’ll talk about air fryers and about how to cook all different types of chicken in the air fryer.
Air fryers are small, easily portable, and make it easy to fry foods without the use of oil. This makes the frying experience much cleaner, quicker, healthier, and more fun. These fryers have the ability to cook almost anything that your oven or stovetop can, but with less time and effort. From cheese sticks to crispy fried chicken, your air fryer can cook it all.
Cooking Chicken In An Air Fryer
Cooking and frying chicken has never been easier than with the air fryer. The air fryer allows your chicken to come out crispy on the outside, while still being as juicy as ever on the inside. There are many different ways you can use your air fryer to cook chicken: you can fry chicken wings, thighs, breast, or an entire chicken. You can also use your air fryer to cook pre-cooked frozen chicken, or even frozen raw chicken. We’ll go over how to fry each type of chicken using the appropriate heat and time settings using an air fryer.
The first step to frying anything in an air fryer is to spray the removable air fry basket with the nonstick cooking spray of your choice. Extra oil is not necessary when using an air fryer. You can add a few minutes of cooking time to any of the following recipes to achieve a crispier chicken.
Chicken Wings In An Air Fryer
Decide whether you would like to fry boneless chicken wings or bone in chicken wings and select your recipe. Remove and spray the removable frying tray with nonstick cooking spray. Place the chicken wings in the basket, being careful not to let the wings touch one another. Re-insert the basket until it clicks into place. Set the temperature dial on the fryer to 360 degrees and set the timer to 12 minutes. After 12 minutes remove the basket and turn the wings over. Cook the wings an additional 12 minutes. For extra crispy wings, turn the heat dial up to 400 degrees and cook for 5 more minutes. Remove the wings from the air fryer with tongs and enjoy.
Chicken Breast In An Air Fryer
Prepare your chicken breasts using your recipe of choice. Spray the tray with cooking spray. Place the chicken breasts side by side into the fryer basket. You should be able to fit about three medium sized pieces well. Be careful not to let the pieces touch one another. Set the temperature dial to 375 degrees and fry for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove the basket and flip the chicken. Cook the chicken for an additional 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Remove with tongs and enjoy.
Chicken Thighs In An Air Fryer
Prepare your chicken thighs using your desired recipe. Spray the tray with cooking spray. Place the chicken thighs with the skin side facing down in the air fryer. Set the heat to 380 degrees. Cook the thighs for 12 minutes. Turn the chicken over and cook an additional 12 minutes. For crispier chicken, increase the heat to 400 degrees and cook an additional 5 minutes.
Whole Chicken In An Air Fryer
Prepare and rub your whole chicken with any desired spices or sauces. Spray the removable tray with cooking spray. Place the chicken in the basket, breast side facing down. Set the temperature to 360 degrees and cook for 50 minuets. After 50 minutes, flip the chicken over and cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink on the inside and the juices flow clear.
Frozen Pre-Cooked Chicken In An Air Fryer
For frozen, pre-cooked chicken, place the chicken in the air fryer basket and turn the temperature to 380 degrees. Cook the frozen chicken for 20-30 minutes, depending on the thickness and type of chicken being used. Take out the fryer basket and shake the basket and turn the chicken every 8 minutes. Once the chicken is heated through, remove with tongs and enjoy.
Frozen Raw Chicken In An Air Fryer
To cook raw, frozen chicken, simply add an additional 5-8 minutes to any of the above cook times. Always remember to check the chicken for doneness, as cook times for frozen chicken can very slightly.
